Quentin Tarantino has revealed his favourite (and least favourite) films of 2011.
The Quentin Tarantino Archives have got their hands on the director's rundown of the year, which yields some surprising results.
His #1 movie was Woody Allen's Midnight In Paris. It's an unexpected choice, but not underserving: it was smart, sweet and pretty damn funny, with some spot-on portrayals of '20s icons by the supporting cast.
Elsewhere, his list mixes the mainstream with the offbeat (The Artist andOur Idiot Brother tie in 10th place!), and there are some shocks (The Three Musketeers? Surely an ironic joke...) and he was also kind enough to supply lists of other films he enjoyed, his favourite screenplays, and his worst films of the year.

Jan 14th 2012, 12:54Hahaha nice one QT. you may has directed some s**t films (accept from Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown & Kill Bill Vol 2). but boy I think you have got some very good taste in films like Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes, X-Men: First Class, Red State, Warrior, The Three Musketeers, Green Lantern, Captain America, Fast & Furious 5: Rio Heist. but I dont agree with you on the Straw Dogs remake & Paranormal Activity 3 been in your worst list thought. because imho I really liked them two as well.GarthMarenghi
Jan 14th 2012, 13:59Surely if two films tie for 10th that makes the next one on the list 12th? Anyway, perhaps some of these choices are merely to wind people up. Looks like he's succeeded. I agree wholeheartedly with putting the laughable Insidious on the worst films list; no idea why US geek bloggers were so in love with it. They're clearly easily pleased. And a 'Nice Try' award seems monumentally patronising, doesn't it?joker16

As for saying Drive was a nice try you have to remember that Quentin will have seen many films similar to it from the 70's and will feel it doesn't hold a candle to them.StevePotter

Jan 15th 2012, 15:29@Stevepotter It amazes me that anyone could be wowed by that movie. The action was poorly directed, the acting was dull and Chris Evan's has zero charisma. It was one of the more boring movies I saw last year... but to each his own. @FBJFryer All of those movies (with the exception of Thor) came out in 2010 in the United States. Animal Kingdom did make his top ten last year.MikeyRix
