From my own experienceAlways have a plan and it should be adaptable based on changing situation
Never make a move that puts your king in danger or be open to attack
Priority - Keep king safe first, then think about tactics/strategy
From other masters
Analyse the position each time
What does the opponent want to do?
Double check your move
to see if there is a better move
- Look for weaknesses in opponents position
which side left unprotected
which square is weak
remove the guard
