The Mythical Pokémon distribution is one of many ways Nintendo and the Pokémon Company are celebrating the 20th anniversary of the franchise.
Each month, starting in February, a Legendary Mythical Pokémon will be made available as a mystery gift. The first event Pokémon will be Mew.
Pokémon Red and Blue Version players know Mew as the first Pokémon unobtainable through traditional means. But, Nintendo is making Mew much easier to get in 2016 and it won’t be the only one.
Mew will be available from Feb. 1-24 and to obtain Mew in your Pokémon ORAS orPokémon X and Y games, you’ll need to visit your local GameStop and receive the card with the mystery gift code. Just input the code in the Mystery Gift menu when you boot up your game and you’ll have your special Mew.
But be advised, you’ll need to redeem the Mew code before May 31.
This Mew will be given to you at level 100 with the ability Synchronize but only knows the move, Pound.
While Pound isn’t the greatest move in the Pokémon world, Mew can learn any TM/HM in the game so you can customize your Mew to battle any way you’d like.
UK Pokémon players will need to go to their local GAME store to obtain their Mew code while other European players can go to Serebii’s Event page to see where they can receive their Mew.
As mentioned above, the Pokémon Company will be distributing some of the most rare Pokémon in all of the games all year long. The list of Mythical Pokémon are listed in thePokémon website but here’s a shortlist of the distributions and which Pokémon is being given away.
