Paul Walker dead: Moment of impact caught on security video
Security video has captured the moment of impact in the fiery car crash that killed Fast and Furious star Paul Walker and one other person.
Walker was killed when the red sports car he was traveling in slammed into a tree and caught fire around 3:30 pm (2330 GMT) on Saturday in the town of Santa Clarita, in Los Angeles county, local media reported.
New reports are suggesting the Porsche he was riding in suffered a mechanical failure caused by a power steering fluid leak.
Sources close to the auto shop-co-owned by Walker and Porsche driver Roger Rodas have told how they saw "evidence of a fluid burst and subsequent fluid trail before the skid marks at the accident scene."
Walker's girlfriend is said to be "broken up" about the death of her partner of seven years, who she had been dating since she was 16-years-old.
Jasmine Pilchard-Gosnell, 23, is being comforted by her mother, according to her uncle Barton Bruner.
"Paul was a really good guy and Jasmine is broken up by this. I went to Thanksgiving with him, played golf with him," he told the Daily Mail.
"They had their ups and downs but they were together and looking to spend a bright future together."
Despite the 17-year age gap, Pilchard-Gosnell and Walker were able to make their relationship work and she was reportedly acting as a step-mother to his 15-year-old daughter, Meadow.
Meadow, was reportedly in attendance at the ROWW event that Walker was attending moments before his death and may have witnessed the fatal car crash that took his life.
Meadow was born to Walker and his former girlfriend Rebecca McBrain when the star was twenty-five.
Though the couple split up shortly after Meadow's birth the pair reportedly remained close, happily sharing custody of their daughter.
"I love my daughter so much, and I love her mum too. We get along so well as a result of me playing it the way that I did," the Daily Mail reported Walker as saying.
Meadow is said to have recently made the move from her mother's home in Hawaii to Walker's base in California in an effort to be closer to him.
”I’m grateful I had her at 25 and not 20 because, at 40 and 15, we’re matching up sweet!” Walker told Express News.
“She’s been with her mum her whole life and she wants a relationship with her pops. It’s working out really well right now."
In the hours following Paul Walker's death, it appeared Meadow Walker posted a moving tribute to her father on Facebook.
“When I was little, he taught me to walk, taught me to smile, and taught me never to give up,” the post read.
“I loved him even before I knew what love was. He was my hero, my REAL life hero! He will always be in my heart! It brings tears in my eyes as I write this!”
Fans and the media jumped at the chance to send their condolences to the teenager, with her post garnering more than 52,000 likes in just a few hours.
However despite the post appearing sincere it was later revealed to be a hoax, with the account in Meadow Walker's name suspiciously established only an hour after Paul Walker was pronounced dead.
Despite her father's international fame, Meadow Walker is understood to have shied away from public posts on social media.
Walker's father has also taken to television to speak about the heartbreak of losing his son.
"I'm just glad that every time I saw him, I told him I loved him. And he said the same thing to me," Paul Walker Sr told CBS2.
"His heart was so big. I was so proud of him everyday."
Fans and fellow actors on Sunday mourned the death of Walker, best known as undercover agent Brian O'Connor in the Fast and Furious action movies, in a fiery car crash in California.
The Sheriff's Department has stated that speed was a factor in the crash.
Police say his the body of Paul Walker was burned so badly that dental records must be retrieved so the coroner can identify the body.
Walker, 40, appeared in all but one of the six movies in the popular franchise, and was a leading protagonist along with Vin Diesel and Michelle Rodriguez.
"It is with a truly heavy heart that we must confirm that Paul Walker passed away today in a tragic car accident while attending a charity event for his organisation Reach Out Worldwide," the late actor's publicists wrote on his Facebook account on Saturday.
"He was a passenger in a friend's car, in which both lost their lives."
The publicists wrote that they were "stunned and saddened beyond belief by this news." The message was also linked to Walker's Twitter account.
Witnesses recognised Walker and one onlooker even tried to pull him from the wreckage, the localSanta Clarita Valley Signal newspaper reported.
Walker was taking a Thanksgiving break from filming the seventh "Fast and Furious" movie, which had been scheduled for release in July.
The crew had filmed in Atlanta and were set to travel to Abu Dhabi in January, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
"Brother I will miss you very much," wrote Hollywood star Diesel on his Instagram account. "I am absolutely speechless. Heaven has gained a new Angel. Rest in Peace."
Another "Fast and Furious" co-star, Ludacris, wrote on Twitter: "Your humble spirit was felt from the start, wherever you blessed your presence you always left a mark, we were like brothers & our birthdays are only 1 day apart, now You will forever hold a place in all of our hearts @paulwalker legacy will live on forever."
And former wrestler Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, who also appears in the franchise, wrote: "All my strength, love & faith to the Walker family during this heartbreaking time. We find our strength.. in his light. Love you brother."
In real life Walker raced cars, described himself on Twitter as an "outdoorsman, ocean addict," and "adrenaline junkie," and did many of his own movie stunts.
In a departure from his action movie roles, Walker is due to appear in "Hours," an independent movie set for mid-December release about a father who struggles to keep his ailing infant daughter alive after Hurricane Katrina struck New Orleans in 2005.
Walker was also scheduled to star in the 2014 crime-action film "Brick Mansions," a remake of the 2004 French movie District B13.
Before his "Fast and Furious" breakthrough Walker appeared in TV commercials as a child, and was in several 1980s TV shows. He became a teen heartthrob, appearing in such movies as "Pleasantville" (1988), "She's All That" and "Varsity Blues" (both 1999).
The first "Fast and Furious" movie appeared in 2001.
The series, with its focus on fast cars, tough guys, sexy starlets and exotic locales, is one of Hollywood's most lucrative global franchises.
Fans poured out their grief on social media, including the franchise's pages on Instagram and Facebook.
More than one million people had either liked or commented in various languages on the death notice on Walker's Facebook page.
"Fast and Furious will not be the same without you Paul!!" wrote fan Sedat Yildirim.
